A big let down
"The information in this book is so basic that I am embarrassed for Richard if this is the best so called 'expert' knowledge that he has to offer as his 'best ever' tips. True the pictures are lovely, but other than that I feel it is something which most amateur gardeners could have come up with. Sorry to have to dismiss this but I was very disappointed."

"Sorry Richard, this set of tips for a more productive garden is a 'miss'. Most of the offerings were not new to me I'm afraid. Will not stop me from listening to you in future though :-)"

"Beautiful illustration, but I wished that it could be more than just that. I only started gardening several months ago, but I felt that I learned very little from the book. I learned more by just watching Richard on his regular shows!"

"Very disappointed in this book, yes the illistrations are great but thats all it has going for it.
The tips given are nothing new and I guess you could search the internet and get the same information there."

Good for a beginner
"Easy to read and follow, as you would expect from Richard. Sadly I didn't actually learn anything and a lot of it really was common sense! Having said that I'd have been delighted to receive this 20 years ago as many gardening books do assume a certain level of knowledge which someone new to gardening may not have."

Beautiful book
"I bought two copies, one for myself and one to send to a garden-lover in Japan. It is a beautifully presented book, full of practical advice and gorgeous English garden photos. I'm really pleased with it, and am looking forward to improving my garden next summer."

Not what I expected a big dissapointment
"When Richard was talking about this book he made it sound like there were a lot of new things to try in the garden to get the best out of it. I was dissapointed because nearly all of the tips in there were old ones that I and I am sure a lot of other gardeners whould know already. Even my partner who is not a gardner knew all the tips in there and he said he wasn't impressed because he didnt think there was enough content especially for beginners. I bought it because i have Blueberries and Richard stated that he would tell you how to get the best out of your plants. The only tip given was to leave the berries on a bit longer so that they ripen more and get sweeter and buy doing this they come off easier. This to me was not really a tip but common sense. I think even the novice gardener would know that fruit needs to ripen first before you pick it.
I assumed there would be a more indepth passage for each tip but it was very short and sweet.

"this book arrived this morning and i couldn't put it down. it is packed with usefull facts. there is no extra padding, every paragraph is full of information. i enjoy the witty little headings to the paragraphs, each one makes you want to read on. the photograph are beautiful. when is the next book coming out richard? i'm waiting for it."
