"We had lots of music on cassettes that we wanted to get onto CD & saw this item & decided to order it. The software downloaded OK but that was it. The music we could not retrieve at all even though we tried time after time. Sad it was as we had recently transfered all our old holiday & family videos onto DVD using another item bought from QVC & we had hoped to do the same with the music. In the end we returned this item & could not recommend anyone to buy it."

The best way to install
"When I first received my 'Ion Tape Express' I struggled to use it and was about to return it, thinking it was faulty. I used the installation disc with no problem but I could not get it to convert my tapes to MP3.
I already had iTunes on my PC so I decided to uninstall iTunes and let the installation disc re-install iTunes. Since then, the Ion Tape Express has worked perfectly and it's simplicity itself to use.
If you have problems with it, then try doing the above.
Remember, if it doesn't solve any problem that you're having with it, you can return the item and receive a full refund (within the 30 day trial period of course)."

Does what it says!
"Having used the Ion Profile Express (vinyl to mp3) I merely connected the Tape Express to the computer and it found the software for the Profile. Seems to work quite well and the transfer from tape to mp3 is excellent with good reproduction. Only downside is the fact that not having a power adaptor supplied it has to run on batterries, and for the first time QVC did not supply batterries so it could not be used straight out of the box! (Minor moan I know but quite infuriating.)"

Worst Purchase Ever
"As far as am concerned this product is faulty. I had no problem in converting the tape to MP3 .On playback the tracks jump and skip like a scratched record. I then checked the tapes on my HI FI. And they are in perfect working order .I really think that QVC should stop selling this product .As they are always going on about the stringent product testing that QVC does. Plus I think customers should be reimbursed for postage. As this product is not fit for purpose."

Excitement to Disappointmnent
"Awaited this item with great anticipation as I have my music mostly on tapes, the really good tunes from 60's onwards.
Managed to transfer 4, all of which ended before its time, so are unusable, frustrating to get into the song for it to stop abruptly.
The machine also ended recording after a few seconds repeatedly.
Altogether, very disappointed, not to QVC's usual standards."

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT
"Spent hours on this machine trying to transfer the same original cassette tapes over and over again and I continually
got "unable to export tunes, will we try exporting again".
Even when it appeared that a tape had been fully transferred
the machine could not read it properly as maybe only 1 or 2
tracks were recorded on to my computer. I am a fairly patient person but this would drive u to distraction. I am a regular shopper at QVC and this is the first time I have had to return an item I was

"This product does not come up to the standard we expect from QVC.
It will copy your tapes to your computer & convert the music to Mp3 files. It has a feed back noise which is noticeabe on some recordings more than others. The cd & software you install leaves a lot to be desired. The manual is basic and not at all helpfull when you have problems. For advance editing ,it refers to using the Audacity Software that installed from the cd. Todate I haven't located this software because it was not on the cd. I have found the Itunes software to be lacking & can not get it to burn to a cd, terrible software. It should have come with software to work with Windows Media Player or have an option to use Windows Media Player.I have been on MixMeister & Ion website they do not offer any help for this product but there are lots of complaints about it !!."

"This is a hopeless piece of technology! Not only do you have to wait through the whole length of the tape to convert it but the machine seems unable to read when the tape is finished! I'm talking here about shop bought tapes so no issue with the original recording! Sorry, QVC, this has put me off buying anything electronic from you. It's going back and I won't be considering buying the LP converter."

"Don’t Buy, I have had mine since May 2010. It first arrived without the lead to plug into the computer, I did inform Customer Services, and yes they did offer their first class help of wanting me to send the item back to them. But like a lot of people I wanted to use it straight away, so I found the lead from my Sat Nav fitted just as well.
Great I thought, but no I have used it just 6 times and each time I now try to use it the darn thing chews up my tapes. So its another item destined for my lovely wheelie bin.
So take my advice and steer clear of this item"

"I have been looking at this item for quite a while and as I have boxes of cassettes which I had already started to reduce due to space etc, after reading the reviews I just braced myself it might not work but I had to try for myself. On arrival nothing great to look at but easy set up and within minutes I was on my way recording but the first tape the feedback was really bad and had to move around before finding it stoped when placed on the carpet . The tape transferred and the data inputted and directly went into my itunes and windows media player no problem. The issue for me is after converting ten tapes when inputting the data for the songs after the fourth song nothing the slots were shaded in if you go back it gets messed up when you go forward it automatically transfers so you have a album with four songs names but has recorded the whole album so I will be contacting ION for further help. I would say you have to keep going I have converted over ten tapes so far and really happy as I have forgotten the great music I have on tapes hidden in boxes so you have to try for yourself but I give thumbs up as it works."

"very pleased with this purchase. Bought it to convert some old tapes of my grandmother talking about her life experiences, she was born in 1885 and she died over thirty years ago now. As you can imagine these memories are extremely precious and entertaining, a family treasure. For me, it worked really easily and i have had no problems with sound quality etc. A great find, thank you qvc!"

"I got this hoping to put all of my tapes onto my ipod. It arrived and I connected it to my computer but every tape I put onto the machine "wawwweed" and I thought at first my tapes had warped over time, but not so, they play on my tape player fine. Whether there is a fault with this one I don't know, but I will not be keeping it and will be returning it as soon as I can get to the Post Office. It is not a product that I would recommend and I'm glad I tried this first as I way going to buy the one that did the LP's - but for me this tape converter just did not work."

Great Gadget
"This is a fantastic gadget and I'm so pleased to have found it on QVC - have been looking for a way to transfer all my old cassette tapes to CD for ages. This works for me - and if I had read the poor reviews before buying it would have put me off. It is so easy to set up and I have found the sound quality excellent. I can leave it to record while I get on and do something else and it's fantastic to rediscover all those old songs that had been stored away under the stairs for a few years. I have not had any problems with this tape converter so far and it gets 5 stars plus from me!"

"I bought this in December, and have not yet managed to convert one complete Cassette. Usually it fails halfway through the first track. I kept it, thinking it might be me that was doing something wrong, but it would seem that I'm not the only one with problems. I contacted Ion, but have recieved no reply so far. This has got to be the worst thing I have ever bought from the usually good QVC."

Really wanted to love this.....but didn't
"So, so sorry QVC, but I wish I'd taken note of the negative reviews.
I've got 3 shoe boxes of tapes, some pre recorded, some the fruits of my labour from taping the charts on a Sunday afternoon & some voice recordings. I was so looking forward to reliving the memories stored on the tapes but instead all I got was muffled music & the most annoying noise that I can't even describe.
At first I thought it was 'feedback' like you'd get from having a microphone too close to a speaker, but it didn't matter where I placed the unit, I got the same annoying high pitched humming. I tried various tapes & got the same result on all of them.
As with other reviewers, I also wish there was an alternative to iTunes for storing the tracks, but ultimately as I deleted everything I recorded this is really a moot point.
Overall, without a shadow of doubt, the worst product I've ever bought from QVC"

"The unit worked ok at first but soon the sound from my old cassettes were becoming muffled. I initally thought that it might have been the deteriorating tapes but tried the same tapes on my old cassette player and the sound was pretty much perfect, hence I returned it. The Ion Tape Express is an easy product to use, however, I think it could have been better if it allowed you to pause between recordings - the functions are quite basic."

Can anybody help or can QVC help
"I got the Ion tape express and thought right lets dig out all them tapes. But when I started to record my tapes the first 2 were OK, but then I started to get this very annoying back ground hum that if you put your hand near it or moved the tape express it got louder has any body else suffered this I am using a MAC if that makes any difference, I have just sent this one back and got my second one and thats worse than the first one. So I am now waiting for my 3rd and final one."

absolute rubbish
"item is of poor quality, very plasticy, cheap looking, and flimsy cassette door. you have to use i tunes to play back and record your songs, and when i installed i tunes on my computer, all it does is duplicate and tripple the tunes already in my music folder on to i tunes library. this item is definatly going straight back to qvc and i have never been so dissapointed in any purchase from qvc as much as this. i would not recommend this product to anybody so beware if your thinking of buying it.
