Ladies and Gentlemen... This is an epic camera, from a brand that oozes class. Mat was right with all the things he said about it - although why I have no need to photograph a plane from 20+ miles away... It has the solidity of a DSLR, so yes, it is heavier than a point and shoot, which means when you use the viewfinder, you feel and act like a photographer, and take better pictures. The zoom is amazing, and even though the auto focus is lightning fast in good light (like a decent DSLR), the ability to manually focus on something with the smooth ring is a Godsend. The number of different settings will please all - from anyone who wants to just let the camera do all the work (AutoEXR) or to people like me, who want to expand their knowledge by using the myriad manual settings that it has.
All in all, this is an excellent camera, a joy to use with decent software to manage the RAW files.
Although QVC have kindly given me a 4MB card to use with this camera, it has remained and will remain, unused. If you would like to shoot RAW files, and REALLY release and enjoy this camera, I would heartily recommend buying a SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC card, (the 95mb Transfer speed ones) of the highest GB size that you can afford. They literally transform this camera, and it is ready to take the next shot before you are! :)
If you're even wavering a little bit about this camera, buy it and take advantage of QVC's 30-day money back guarantee... You won't be disappointed, and I for one won't be handing MY Fuji HS50EXR back!

Superb camera at great price

First, the delivery. Ordered on good friday so wasn't expecting item maybe till following thu or fri, however delivered on tuesday. Very impressed straight out of the box, i knew it was heavier than others because i had read the details on it!!!!!!!! I was asked to do presentation photos for a well known coffee shop chain (i am not a pro photographer). Head office is in london, i am in glasgow. Done about 450 pics at the largest file size using the effects etc, sent them via googledrive. Every one thought the pics were fantastic, even when displayed on a big screen, the miniature effect is great. The zoom is really impressive although steady hands or a mini tripod are called for at full zoom. All in a very impressive camera, spend an hour going through the menus and they do become easier to understand and very enjoyable to use.

I purchased this HS50 to upgrade from my HS30 ~ Yes,The manual zoom has friction, but this is has fuji intended, not a fault. It has super quick focus ability ~ locks on in an instant. and oozes pic quality is has Matt says its just 'NUTS'. Worth every penny, yes its large, reasonibly weighty and bulky ~ but Matt is spot on this is a real camera with all the lens you could ever desire, that turns anyone from an amature into a true photographer. Yes with the 42x [84x incl digital enhanced] zoom you can read the writing on a plane from 20 + Miles away ~absolutely true. Well done QVC amazing TSV price too, With excellent advice from Matt - Thankyou

First impressions

This camera has a nice feel with it's rubberised grip and although to some it will feel bulky and heavy to me with larger hands it feels very nice. and can be held one handed with ease.All controls are at hand and although I have only had a little time to play the manual zoom i like very much more like DSLR.The test photo's I have taken both indoor and outside I cannot fault but it will get a very hard weekend just to make sure.What it can do in Mat Trim's hands is one thing in mine time will tell at least you can delete what you don't like and i have 30 days happy clicking cannot get that on the high street?
