Superb Camera
Posted1 July 2013
Upgraded to the HS50 EXR from my HS 10 and so glad i did.
Its slightly bigger and heavier but the picture quality is better ,the battery pack is so much better than using AA batteries, the 3 inch screen now moves to the left of the camera avoiding sun glare and the eye view is so much clearer and bigger,
It is 16 megapixel and the Zoom is Fantastic !
You will need a Class 10 SD card if you want to use the video recording otherwise you will get a write error message.
You can use it as a point and shoot with the auto function or try adjusting the ISO or Aperture.
Great BUY !!
Well Done FUJI and QVC .....

Fuji Digital Magic
Posted23 May 2013
May I add my personal experiences of the Fuji Magic that this camera gives any user. In the two weeks that I have been able to use this camera (because QVC can not direct dispatch to the Slovak Republic) the HS50EXR has provided ' MAGIC ' digital images that I was not expecting from such a reasonably priced camera. Unfortunately QVC does not allow images to be uploaded and shared in their review process. A picture is worth a 1000 words. I own 3 other simpler Fuji cameras each model has provided improvements in image quality and ease use. The HS50EXR is a quantum step forward by Fuji engineers. However, for some HS50EXR users there may be an expectation that Fuji magic will turn them into professional photographers without training or understanding the basic photographic image processes. I purchased this camera because I wanted to reduce the burden of having to carry a series of lenses on a mountain trip and also risk the problem of missing the picture by having to swap lenses at the critical moment, when nature presents an unmissable fleeting chance to capture a nature shot of a lifetime. I accepted the optical laws of physics that such an incredible zoom range in one lens can never be so sharp as a prime lens before I committed myself to purchase this TSV from QVC. With a 24 mm to 1000 mm (35mm film equivalent) in one lens, designers have to make compromises on f stop and image sharpness. At the telephoto end of the range even professional photographers with a lot of experience need some camera support. Look at the way the football photographers support their camera systems at a premier football match. To think that electronic image stabilisation can produce pin sharp images without tripod or monopod support by the HS50EXR at 1000 mm is an unrealistic expectation of any purchaser. The HS50EXR has allowed me to take pictures of a lifetime at 1000 mm (on a tripod) in extremely difficult lighting conditions. The result has been to capture Great Spotted woodpeckers feeding their chicks under the thick canopy of a Weeping Willow tree. I allowed the HS50EXR electronic light metering system to evaluate the very very difficult shots. I have to say there was no way I could have made the pictures without ' FUJI MAGIC '. Thank you QVC and Mat Trim. As a final point the manual zoom soon looses the initial roughness when using the camera for the first time. Perhaps this point should have been made clear to purchasers during the QVC presentation or at least it should have been mentioned in the Fuji user manual. A manual zoom is usually faster to use (with some experience) and certainly reduces the current drain on the cameras battery.

A great all rounder!

Anyone using this camera at it's maximum zoom will be lucky to get a sharp picture, unless the lighting guarantees a fast shutter speed,or a tripod is used,as camera shake is almost inevitable at that extreme range.
It's NOT a fault with the camera, just that any movement of the camera is greatly magnified at that kind of magnification.
Just pointing the camera, and expecting a sharp result, without putting some thought into it,is just wishful thinking!
As regards the size of the camera,it's plainly shown in the demonstration, and it's not sold as a "compact" camera,it's more a DSLR alternative, but with the benefit of a first class lens, married to the highly regarded EXR sensor.
Just take a bit of time to get to know this camera, and explore all it's features, and you won't regret it!
